Coaching and Development

Teachers, principals, and staff receive regular, growth-focused feedback to continuously improve instruction. Through the Teacher Excellence System (TES) and principal training programs, HISD ensures that educators are supported every step of the way.

A System That Values Results

Starting in the 2025–2026 school year, all teachers will be evaluated through TES, a comprehensive system that reflects classroom performance, student learning, professionalism, and school-wide contributions.

Pay-for-Performance for Teachers and Principals

In 2026–2027, HISD will launch a new pay-for-performance (PFP) model for teachers that ties compensation to impact. That means:

  • Higher average teacher salaries

  • Clear pathways to increase base pay

Principals are already part of one of the most rigorous performance-based compensation systems in the country, recognizing their role in leading school improvement.
